Be Sure When You Pray

You can be sure, when you pray, that your prayers will be answered. Why? The God we serve is steadfast and true. He’s not a man, that He should lie, nor is He the son of man that he should repent. We can be sure that God is not like us, like mankind. God says what He means, and He means what He says. The Word of God encourages us that we can have full and total confidence in the things that God has said. Faith is confidence, and we, as believers, must fortify our confidence in God. This is the foundational basis of relationship with the Living God — faith.

God Answers Prayer

15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

James 5:15 (NKJV)

This verse tells us that it is the action of the believer to pray the prayer of faith. It is this action of prayer that saves the sick. The scripture is clear that it is then the Lord’s responsibility to raise that sick person. We pray and the Lord answers. We act in faith, and the Lord Jesus answers the prayer of faith. The Word of God is sure. We can rest assured that God will always answer the prayer of faith.

14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

1 John 5:14–15 (NKJV)

Be Confident

A heart confident in God knows that God hears His children. The condition surrounding being heard by God, as presented in 1 John 5:15, is that we should be asking according to the will of God. Logically, then, it would mean that we would have to know the Word of God to be clear about the will of God. This pattern assures us as believers that our prayers are always heard when we ask according to the will of God. We can be confident that if we are heard, then we will have our petitions. If we are heard, our petitions will be answered. If we are heard, we will have what we have desired. Are you clear on God’s will for the prayers you are making?

23 “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. 24 “Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

John 16:23–24 (NKJV)

These are the words of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. What He says is Truth. The Lord states whatever we ask in His Name, the Father will give it to us. We are told to ask, and it is promised that what we ask for in Jesus’ Name we will receive. The blessings of God are rich, and without any doubt, they bring no sorrow. The Lord promises here that when we ask, not only will we receive, but additionally our joy will be full. It is Our Father’s pleasure to give joy when we are in line with His will.

We Have A Right To Pray

When a person comes to believe in Christ, and as a result repents and is born again, they become new. The old nature passes away, and they are established into a new life. At that moment, they become citizens of the kingdom of heaven, and as a result can participate in the benefits of those belonging to the kingdom of heaven.

19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Hebrews 10:19–23 (NKJV)

By The Blood

All believers are made believers by being bought by the precious blood of Jesus. We were redeemed by His blood, which He shed at the crucifixion. By His blood, we have been granted boldness to enter into the inner sanctums of God. The holiest place is a place of relationship and spiritual intimacy with God. We can draw into that relationship with the Father with full assurance of faith. By the blood of Jesus, we have these rights and we have access. Through the blood of Jesus, we have a right to approach the Father, relationally and in prayer. Let’s utilise these privileges to build the kingdom.

12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 14:12–13 (NKJV)

For His Glory

Again, we see the words of the Lord Jesus. He instructs us to ask, and therefore, from His own words, we have been given the right to ask. When you pray and ask God, in the Name of Jesus, not only is your joy made full, but your answered prayer brings glory to the Father.

23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.

Romans 14:23 NKJV

Finally, we are reminded that everything we say or do must be done in faith. It’s clear that for all of us as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, doing it any other way is sin. Sin is disobedience and disobedience can open doors in our lives to influences of the kingdom of darkness. I declare that disobedience will not reign in our lives, and we will instead obtain promises by obedience. By coming to the Lord, you have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness and translated to the kingdom of the Son. We have been cleansed from sin and made the righteousness of God in Christ. You are of the kingdom of God. You have been granted the access, the privilege, and the right to ask your Father and watch Him answer, to your joy and to His glory.
